Apply for the residency
Chair Poet in Residence Program invites foreign poets and Indian poets from outside West Bengal to undertake a residency in Kolkata in the months of December and January. The writers are offered the opportunity to work on a manuscript and to familiarise themselves with city's heritage, culture and literature.

​The idea to have a poet's chair was born with the sight of the Arabian sea from Tushar's apartment in Malabar Hills, Mumbai. It was the month of end-May heralding monsoons in Mumbai in 2011...

​The 2020 edition of the Chair Poetry Evenings will be presented online and can be viewed at the Facebook and Youtube handles of Chair Poetry Evenings. Significant voices in the world of poetry from USA, Italy, Macedonia, Israel, UK, Estonia, The Netherlands, and various parts of India will be coming together in one platform to share their poems and talk about their craft. ​Entry is free to all events .
