Arun Kamal (India)

Adventure

I wish to go there again into the deep space in the middle of pines
like the darkening juice inside a fruit
there was a slope like the last breath
and the wind that'd adhere to the body
and the sky was so low like earlobes
I was so terribly alone and intact
like the hills in the night
I'd lost the memory of all agonies and repentances
my body was casting off its slough
my soul was shedding off its bark
a stone in the stream half in the sun half in water
I didn't know the slope will wind down to your house
pines were over up there
here the flower of urhul dark and scarlet.

Translated from Hindi by Kiran
