Ghazal 1
We journeyed through the dark, no pathway ever shone. The river we swam across remained unknown. For ages the doorway within, lay veiled from light, Until the wall of ego collapsed, the other didn’t come to sight. Was I happening at some other place I couldn’t see, So much happening within did not come to be. Reflected therein the facets of pride were, My true face never emerged in the mirror. In love too, the sky grows clear quite slowly, The star of parting does not appear too early. The fog beyond the books was too dense, veiling all, Even the well-read could not discern the written on the wall. |
