I have a woman in my basket. I carry her through the fiery meadows. Her body, a million latent petals, shakes my structure. I scatter her over the earth, let her petals fall among the rocks. The sprout of her breath is a lethal lightning bolt, a clandestine hollow—birthing flowers from her multiple soils. We have walked to the sea. She is a fish now on the waves —her laughter tangled in the seaweed, her voice running free to the edge of the salt. This simple woman breaks the world with her legs, furious nutcracker of injustices. Infinite in flight, she makes her petals soar in the wind. My basket seems empty. She is now a woman confirmed a thousand times —vast, unfolded, lulling the cosmos with her womb. From the book A house in the palm of your hand |
